It gives us immense pleasure in inviting you, on behalf of Medical College, Kolkata and Association of Medical Physicists of India (Eastern Chapter), to participate in the 34th National Conference of Association of Medical Physicists of India which is to be held during November 13-15,2013 and Symposium on "Particle Therapy" on November 16, 2013 at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics Auditorium, 1/AF, Bidhannagar, Sector-I, Kolkata - 700064.The theme of the conference is "50 years of Medical Physics Education" commemorating beginning of DRP course in B.A.R.C.
Kolkata is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India. This city is known for its literary, artistic, and revolutionary heritage; as the former capital of India, it was the birthplace of modern Indian literary and artistic thought. Kolkata has been called the "City of Furious, Creative Energy"] as well as the "cultural [or literary] capital of India". The hosting institute Medical College, Kolkata is the oldest Medical College in Asia and its Radiotherapy department has celebrated its centenary in 2010. Eastern Chapter of AMPI was formed in 2004. All members of this chapter are very much enthusiastic to organize this conference in Kolkata after long time gap from 1984.

Key elements of Kolkata's cuisine include rice and a fish curry known as machher jhol, which can be accompanied by desserts such as roshogolla, sandesh, and a sweet yoghurt known as mishti dohi. It is well known that enormous progress has taken place in last two decades in the field of medical imaging and radiation therapy. The diagnosis and treatment of cancer is now fully sophisticated technology oriented. The scientific deliberations in AMPICON 2013 will cover each and every aspect of application of physics in medicine including current and future Technologies of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
During four days from November 13-16, 2013Meghnath Saha auditorium of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata will be the site for the stimulating scientific sessions of AMPICON 2013 with a rich series of talks and presentations on different advanced techniques of radiation therapy, including our traditional options, plenary lectures by outstanding international and national experts, as well as proffered paper and poster presentation.
